Summary

The purpose of this study is to gather data to see if so-called enriched forms of exercise programs such as dance are more effective in improving balance and quality of life in patients with idiopathic  IdiopathicOf, relating to, or designating a disease having no known cause. Parkinson’s disease (PD) than regular exercise programs that are currently provided by physical therapists.

Loss of Motor Skills, Walking/Gait  GaitWay of walking, which is diminished in people with Parkinson’s who tend to shuffle their feet, take too short steps, and not swing one or both arms.

Time Commitment

  • Less than six months
  • Screening  ScreeningPeriod of selection of clinical trial participants based on ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA. visits will take place from Sept. 21 through Sept. 29. Study visits will take place from Oct. 1 through Nov. 9. All visits are conducted at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA.

Eligibility

  • Minimum Age: 40
  • Maximum Age: 79
  • Gender(s) Accepted: Either
  • Minimum Years Since Diagnosis: 3

Inclusion Criteria

  • Diagnosis of PD for three years or more
  • You feel unsteady on your feet or stumble occasionally

Exclusion Criteria

  • You have no balance or gait troubles
